Alissa is a self-taught potter who loves hand-building, making pots on the wheel, and wall hanging sculpture art.

Patterns from nature, different textures, shapes, and colours all find their way into Alissa’s work. Ideas mould and meld into each other frequently, which results in a continuously evolving body of work.

Some of Alissa's clay creations include serving trays, one of a kind coffee mugs, necklace pendants, indoor/outdoor wall hanging art, a wide variety of bowls and plates, flower pots and, new this year, bird feeders.

The tableware created by Alissa is fully functional, and food safe (microwave, oven, and dishwasher friendly).   Find out more by visiting our Functional Pottery page.

Alissa has participated in numerous craft and art shows across southern Ontario, and is a member of the Durham Potters Guild.   Her work has been displayed at several galleries, including The Station Gallery in Whitby, the Boyd Art Room in Bobcaygeon and The Lindsay Gallery

Proudly we annouce that Alissa was awarded Honorable Mention at the July 2010 Juried Show at The Lindsay Gallery.  Her unique piece of wall art "Small City Scape" captured the judges' attention !

Alissa now lives in the country with her husband Sean, who you may have heard playing live jazz saxophone around town.  Click here to learn more about Sean Whalen, and to hear his music.

Recently, Alissa and Sean (with the help of very kind friends) built a new pottery studio at their home, north of Bobcaygeon.  Please check out the News & Shows page to find out where her work is currently on display.
